NSPluginWrapper 0.9.91.4

NSPluginWrapper is an Open Source compatibility plugin for Netscape 4 (NPAPI) plugins. That is, it enables you to use plugins on platforms they were not built for. For example, you can use the Adobe Flash Player 9 plugin on Linux/x86_64, NetBSD and FreeBSD platforms.

This is only a convenience release that brings local fixes that were available in various Linux or *BSD distributions. Here is a list of changes:

  • Don't try to wrap native plugins
  • Use anonymous sockets on Linux
  • Fix build on NetBSD (David Brownlee)
  • Fix build on DragonFlyBSD (Steve O'Hara-Smith)
  • Fix build on Linux systems with SSP enabled by default (Kristian Hermansen)

Please read the documentation for further details. In particular, I commented on an issue regarding Flash Player 9 and sound support.

It is also worth mentioning that NSPluginWrapper is now available to Debian unstable (Sid) contribs, openSUSE Factory, NetBSD and DragonFlyBSD pkgsrc repositories.

BTW, a user also reported that the Citrix ICA Client plugin works though I could not test it myself.
